ipconsult is a private practice whose aim is to assist clients to commercialise their IP profitably.

ipconsult operates as a hub, where files are held and managed at a central office by the ipc team. In addition to our core members we engage an experienced network of Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys to complement the team and handle specialist subject matter. This network of consultants operate through our hub as representatives of ipconsult.

ipconsult is regulated by the Intellectual Property Regulation Board.

Neville Walker

UK Chartered Patent Attorney & European Patent Attorney

Neville worked at GEC-Marconi IP in 1987; moved to private practice in 1989, then to BTG where he managed the MRI IP portfolio, working in electronics and telecoms. In 1997 he handled licensing and IP due diligence during the floatation of Scipher. After a short period at Motorola, he started ipconsult in 2001 and now focuses on ‘SME’ businesses, assisting them to protect and optimise their IP.

Rebecca Mack

Patent Attorney

Rebecca graduated in Zoology from Swansea University, and worked for six years at HSBC bank before starting at ipconsult in 2008 as the Office Manager. Rebecca is qualifed as a CIPA Administrator and in 2012 Rebecca took the decision to train as a Patent Attorney, whilst maintaining her role as Office Manager. Since qualifying Rebecca continues a multi-functional role running the office, managing the company finances along with her fee earning role as a Patent Attorney.

Andrew Kenny

UK Chartered Patent Attorney & European Patent Attorney

Andrew joined the patent profession in 2010. Before this he worked as an engineer on electrical and mechanical machinery and related electronic and computerised control systems in industry and the military in the UK and the USA. Andrew works on patents, designs, and trade marks, from prosecuting applications to infringement issues.

Allister McManus

UK Chartered Trade Mark Attorney and European Trade Mark Attorney

Allister has a law degree and Masters in IP law. He joined ipconsult in 2008. Allister deals with contentious & non-contentious trade mark work & has experience in UK, EU trade marks, US & The Madrid Protocol international filing system. Allister also assists clients on pre-litigation issues. Prior to joining ipconsult he worked for 5 years at Eric Robinson Solicitors, a respected Southampton firm. Allister also deals with registered designs and copyright law.

Andrew Neill

UK Chartered Patent Attorney and European Patent Attorney

Andrew graduated with a System Engineering degree in 1986. After working in a CAD/CAM department with BAe, he became an Examiner at the EPO then worked for the MOD specialising in computers and electronics. He has since worked for Siemens and in private practice where Nokia was the main client.  Since 2012 Andrew has worked in the field of automotive electronics and control including automotive radar applications and image processing techniques and was successful in some significant cases at the EPO. He is fluent in written and technical German.

David Edwards

UK Chartered Patent Attorney and European Patent Attorney

David has over 20 years attorney experience, including in-house and consultancy roles at BAE Systems PLC and as a consultant to the Atlas Copco Group for over 10 years. He has a broad range of experience in different technical subject-matter from mechanical and control systems to database design and machine learning. He is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys, has examined for the Joint Examination Board of CIPA and ITMA, and has been a consultant for ipconsult since 2006.

Kate Butler

UK Chartered Patent Attorney and European Patent Attorney

Kate entered the Patent profession in 2002. She graduated with a First Class Hons. Degree in Natural Sciences from Trinity Hall, Cambridge, her degree encompassing physics, material science and chemistry. She subsequently completed a PhD in Medicinal Chemistry at UMIST/the Paterson Institute for Cancer Research at Christie’s Hospital. Kate specialises in chemical, pharmaceutical and mechanical based technology.

Angus Gledhill

Technical Assistant

Angus joined ipconsult in 2015 after graduating from Oxford University with a degree in Physics. Angus is training to become a UK Chartered Patent Attorney and European Patent Attorney. He is involved with the drafting and prosecution of patent applications and has worked extensively on protecting and developing robotics focused IP.

Elisabeth Farrer

Renewals Manager

Elisabeth graduated in Business Studies at University Fumec (Brazil) and after relocating in the UK commenced work at IPC in 2007. Elisabeth is responsible for the management of granted and registered IP rights taking care of all renewal related matters. Elisabeth also provides administrative support to the ipconsult team and handles our outgoing reporting communications.
